Here are some rarely known facts about Termite:

1. Termites have fastest movements. A record of clapping the mandibles shut has been set for 157 miles per hour!

2. Termites are highly intelligent architects. So much so that they design efficient air conditioning for the nests by constructing mounds over their nests.

This helps in air circulation and regulates the temperature of the nest.

3. The queen determines the role that a particular termite will be assigned to, once they grow up.

4. Alaska is the only place without termites.

5. Termites also do farming.

They form a symbiotic relationship with Termitomyces fungi, the spores of which are carried around by the queen in case they migrate to new places.

6. Termites are as old as dinosaurs.

7. If you see termite wings lying around, it is high time to call for professional help.

Termites are known to shed their wings in the places they plan to build their nests!
